Easter Island is described as one of the remotest settlements in the world with a unique history

We had arranged for our tours before leaving Oz. My research found that a Scotsman living permanently on the Island had studied the dialect, history and culture. James Grant-Peterkin is the founder and operator of Easter Island Spirit Tours; he also wrote a definitive book on the island. Because of our limited time here I employed James to show us as much as possible by a "one on one" personal tour arrangement. Three tours which because of the delayed flight now had to be compressed.
I couldn't begin to mention the sites that we visited or the history of this place so I'll let the selection of photos do it for me. Suffice to say James was a wealth of knowledge and wonderful tour guide. He is without a doubt committed and loves the place. It was worth every penny to see so much of the island. He believes that whilst we saw a great deal, it only represented about 10%.
Without the fish which I didn't catch on camera. Typical me not catching something.....
A walk home to finish the day as it began.
On the way we passed the island version of an outdoor Jacuzzi. Water supplied by downpipe from the roof and heating from a wood fire. .....must be a relation of the Collimore's.
End of day one and without a doubt for me, one of the most spectacular days of scenery in my life; and I've seen a lot around the world and in unique locations; but nothing can beat this!!
